Three killed in Peshawar attack

PESHAWAR: Three people were killed and one was seriously wounded when armed men opened fire at a car showroom in the limits of Paharipura police station here on Thursday evening.

According to Rescue Services 1122 spokesman Bilal Faizi, four people, including Qudrat, Zewar Khan, Baseer and Abdullah, had been shifted to Lady Reading Hospital in critical condition. He said that Qudrat and Zewar Khan were Afghan nationals, presently living in Faqirabad. He said that three of them succumbed to their wounds, while Abdullah was in precarious condition.

An official of the relevant police station, while quoting initial statement of the injured person, said that the incident took place due to an old enmity. “We were sitting inside Ali Car Centre at Ring Road when a group of armed men came and opened fire with automatic weapons on us,” the police quoted the injured man as saying. However, names of the attackers could not be ascertained. The official said that they were investigating the case.

Meanwhile, police arrested 21 alleged outlaws during the search and strike operations in the limits of cantonment circle and recovered arms and ammunitions from their possession here on Thursday.

He said that those arrested also included two proclaimed offenders, who were wanted to police in different cases. He said that the police had recovered two Kalashnikovs, two rifles and four pistols from the possession of the accused persons. A police spokesman said that cases against the accused had been registered at Regi and other police stations of cantonment.
