Problems of Gadoon estate discussed

SWABI: The members of Gadoon Industrial Association (GIA) on Thursday briefed deputy commissioner Kamran Afridi and other administration officials about the problems being faced by the local industrialists and sought the government’s help to make the Gadoon estate a vibrant industrial zone.

During the meeting, the industrialists took up various issues and discussed with the officials ways to attract more investors to the estate. It was learnt that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Speaker Asad Qaisar will soon visit the Gadoon estate and announce resolution of some of the problems, including the construction of roads.

After withdrawal of incentives to the Gadoon estate by then PML-N government in 1992 it was the first time that a wide-ranging discussion was held on the issues of the industrial estate with the administration officials.

Zahid Shah, president of GIA, informed the officials that a piece of land was allotted to Gadoon Technical College several years ago, but despite that the institution was not built. The officials assured the industrialists that all their problems would be resolved on priority.

FIRs REGISTERED: District food controller Shahabuddin registered FIRs against 12 nanbais (bakers) for overcharging people by supplying them bread of less weight here on Thursday.

The DFC raided the bakers’ shops in Swabi, Topi, Shewa Adda and some other areas. An official said that in the light of the FIRs registered in different police stations the bakers would be arrested and fined soon.
