Dolphins eye win as Multan slump in Gold League clash
KARACHI: Karachi Dolphins closed in on an emphatic win after Multan Tigers slumped to 177-7 in their second innings of the Gold League fixture in the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy National Cricket Championship on Wednesday.
The Dolphins continued in the same as Tuesday’s first day at the Multan Cricket Stadium when they first dismissed the home side for 46 — the lowest total this season — and then posting 307-4. The visitors eventually collected 450 to hold a huge lead of 404 on the first innings.
Barring Babar Rehman (5) and Shahzaib Ahmed Khan (8), it was a consistent display from the Dolphins with Babar Hussain Agha (50 off 82 balls, six fours and one six) becoming the fourth half-centurion in the innings.
Paceman Majid Ali captured four wickets for 134 runs in 26 overs.

Peshawar Panthers, in contrast to the Tigers’ troubles, recovered brilliantly from 55-4 to post 325-9 in reply to Lahore Lions’ 221 all out at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Sami Aslam made up for his three successive failures in the championship with a painstaking 162 off 351 balls (499 minutes) as National Bank were all out for 399 against Wapda at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi.
The upcoming left-handed opener, who made 1 and 1 against Karachi Dolphins ad 7 against Lahore Lions in the previous two matches, hit 19 boundaries and one six.
Wapda reached 121-3 in their reply with the in-form opener Iftikhar Ahmed making 56.
