Alleged killer arrested after 19 years
SIALKOT: An alleged criminal who had been on the run for 19 years was arrested on Thursday by the Daska Sadar police.Daska Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Zahid Husain told reporters Abdul Sattar had allegedly killed three people of his family over a domestic dispute in Jaamkey Dheendkey-Qila, Pasrur, in 1996 and fled.
A police team, led by Inspector Tahir Majeed Khan, raided a place on the outskirts of Daska and arrested Sattar, alias Lala.
He said the suspect belonged to Jandiyala Baghwala, Gujranwala. In the preliminary investigation, he said, the suspect had confessed to killing his father-in-law Shukar Din, brother-in-law Muhammad Saleem and sister-in-law Seema Bibi and injuring mother-in-law Sakeena Bibi.
The DSP announced appreciation certificates and cash for the raiding police party.
SIKHS: Up to 2,000 Sikhs performed collective prayers at the Darbar Sahib Kartarpura near Shakargarh on Thursday.
They also took Ashnaan or bath there and distributed sweets to local residents.
Several pilgrims, including Balwant Kaur, Balvinder Singh, Sardar Baadal Singh, Sardar Patel Singh, Maahi Kaur and Manmohan Singh, also visited their native houses in the surroundings of Sialkot, Zafarwal and Shakargarh and refreshed their pre-partition memories. They also exchanged gifts and sweets with the local people.
