Girls outshine boys in BA/BSc exams in AJK

MUZAFFARABAD: All top three positions in BA exams and top two positions in BSc exams held under the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (UAJK) were secured by girl students.

Announcing the results at a press conference here on Friday, UAJK Controller Examinations Raja Mohammad Khurshid said that Tanzeela Khalique and Sana Iqbal of the Government Fatima-tuz-Zahra Degree College for Girls, Kotli, had clinched first and second positions by bagging 700 and 690 marks, respectively, out of 900 marks.

The third position was secured by Ghulam Murtaza of Government Degree College for Boys Muzaffarabad, by obtaining 678 marks.

In BA exams, Shamaiza Mumtaz, a private candidate from district Kotli, secured the first position by obtaining 592 out of 800 marks, Tayyeba Urooj of Government Postgraduate College for Women, Mirpur, and Tayyaba Mushtaq of Government Postgraduate College for Women, Muzaffarabad, secured second and third positions by bagging 587 and 586 marks, respectively, the controller said

He said that 2,624 regular students and 1,616 private students had appeared in the BSc exam of which 1,042 regular students (39.71 per cent) and 525 private students (32.48 per cent) passed. Among those appearing in BA exams, 1,581 were regular students and 7,205 were private candidates, of which 1,215 (76.85 per cent) and 1,607 (22.30 per cent) had qualified.
