Junaid, Wahab undergoing rehab

LAHORE: Pakistan pace bowlers Junaid Khan and Wahab Riaz are these days undergoing rehabilitation after facing injuries.

The PCB released a health bulletin over injury status of both the players on Friday.

It said, “Junaid was examined today (Friday) by an orthopaedic surgeon, accordingly, he was advised to continue with the existing protocol with gradual increments over the next three weeks. His MRI will be repeated after another six weeks to measure improvement.

“He has also shown some improvement. There is no pain during the wool workout, going up the stairs or during daily-life activities.

There is very little swelling around his knee now and there has been no incidence of locking since the last week.

His strength in thigh muscle still needs to be worked out more.”

About Wahab, it stated, “Wahab’s progress in terms of improvement has been impressive. The tenderness on or around his knee seems to have been resolved to a great extent. There is no swelling around the knee joint and his range of movement has also improved.

“For the last two days, he has had pain-free bowling and batting sessions. His injury though still needs a little more work.

“As of today (Friday), he bowled a spell consisting of one warm-up over and four full-speed overs. His bowling comprised of all sorts of deliveries, with full-length variety being predominant.

“His full match fitness can only be ascertained after he has played a first-class game on and around the first week of November.

“In the meantime he has been advised to continue working according to the rehab plan prescribed for him.”
