Pillion-riding ban for two days likely

LAHORE: The capital city police authorities on Wednesday recommended to the Punjab government to suspend cell phone communication and ban pillion riding on Muharram 9 and 10.

Capital City Police Officer Muhammad Amin Wains told reporters during his visit to the route of Zuljinnah main procession that the notification in both recommendations was expected shortly.

He said a restriction had been imposed on leaves and transfers and postings in Lahore police during Muharram.

The CCPO said the main procession route would be guarded with 300 surveillance cameras and deployment of snipers on 37 buildings while four-layer security would be performed at majalis and on processions during two days.
