ISLAMABAD: Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja, the most senior judge of the Supreme Court, will act as Chief Justice of Pakistan in the absence of Chief Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk who is leaving for South Korea on a 10-day official visit.

President Mamnoon Hussain, on the advice of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, approved the appointment of Justice Khawaja as the acting chief justice under Article 180 of the Constitution till the time the CJP returns. Chief Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk along with a delegation will visit South Korea from Oct 31 to Nov 10.
