Three members of a family die on road

SHEIKHUPURA: Three family members were killed in a road accident on Lahore-Sharaqpur Road near Burj Atari on Saturday.

Sakhawat Ali, his sister Naseem Bibi and niece Kainat were going to Lahore from Jaranwala on a motorcycle. Near Burj Atari, a trailer rammed into the two-wheeler, killing them on the spot.

Factory area police have started investigation against the absconding driver.

In an other incident, 10-year-old Imtiaz was hit and killed by a motorcycle near Mananwala while crossing the road.

ELECTROCUTED: Sixteen-year-old Akhtar Ali died of electric shock in Kot War village near Manawala on Saturday.

He was repairing an electric motor when he received a shock and died while being taken to hospital.

ARRESTED: Factory area police arrested a gang of highwaymen who was looting passersby in the guise of custom officials near Faizpur interchange on Saturday.

According to details, three highwaymen, including a woman, in the guise of custom officials were extorting money on the pretext of checking vehicles’ documents after setting up a picket. They also stopped a custom official who on suspicion called the factory area police and handed them over to police.

Further investigation is under way.
