CS appeals for unity during Muharram

KOHAT: Chief secretary, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Amjid Ali Khan has called for restraint and display of unity during Muharramul Haram.

Addressing a jirga in connection with security arrangements in Kohat and Hangu districts at the Commissioner House here the other day, he said that protecting the life and property of people and keeping peaceful environment was the responsibility of the government. He, however, said that this duty could not be discharged without the help and cooperation of the people and elders belonging to both the sects.

The jirga was attended by inspector general of police, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Nasir Khan Durrani, information minister Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani, religious affairs minister Habibur Rehman, DIG Kohat police Ishtiaq Marwat, Javed Ibrahim Paracha of Sunni Supreme Council, Shah al-Hussaini and others.

The chief secretary promised that the government would remove all apprehensions of the elders and work on the suggestions given by them.

The ministers said that the government and the people would fail the designs of the enemies of Pakistan to create misunderstandings between Shia and Sunni brothers of Hangu.

They called upon the people that they should respect the holy month and live like brothers.
