Body of kidnapped trader recovered

RAWALPINDI: The body of a trader kidnapped for a Rs30 million ransom over three weeks ago was recovered from Rawat.

The police arrested four people who confessed to killing the man, sources in the police said.

Lal Hussain, a trader in the Kashmiri Bazaar, was kidnapped while returning home after closing his shop on October 1.

His family later received a call from his mobile phone in which the kidnapper demanded Rs40 million for his safe return. After a couple of days, however, the mutilated body of the abducted man was recovered.

The police rounded up Munir Khan, a former son-in-law of the victim, along with his three alleged accomplices - Danish Shaukat, his brother Naseer Shaukat and Masood Ahmed.

The police are interrogating the suspects to ascertain the motive behind the kidnapping and the circumstances in which the abducted man was killed.
