Sports Stadium being denied to PAT

SARGODHA: The district administration is not inclined to allow the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) to hold its rally in the Sports Stadium on Dec 5.

The reluctance is mainly because of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) rally on Oct 17 which left a portion of the stadium damaged and the PTI has yet to get it repaired.

Dawn learned the administration suggested some other venues to the PAT leadership ensuring full security to them. PAT leaders said if they were not allowed to hold rally at the Sports Stadium, their next preferred venue would be University Road which links the city with Lahore and Faisalabad. The road is home to several commercial shopping centers and the university.

LAPTOPS: Up to 688 students of the University of Sargodha (UoS) got laptops on Friday under the Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme.

Under the phased scheme, 342 others would get the gadget on Oct 27. Quality Enhancement Director Dr Muhammad Bashir said the laptops were being provided to the students of BS, MA/MSc, MPhil and PhD.

MoU: A ceremony was held to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the UoS and the Virtual University Pakistan at the UoS Lahore campus.

UoS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammad Akram Chaudhry and Virtual University Rector Prof Dr Naveed Ahmad Malik signed the MOU.

According to it, graduate and under-graduate programmes would be started in both universities through online and CDs.
