Weekly inflation eases 0.33pc

ISLAMABAD: Weekly inflation for combined income group witnessed a slight decline of 0.33 per cent for the week ending on Oct 23 as compared to the previous week.

The inflation measured through the Sensitive Price Index (SPI) witnessed the dip for the past two consecutive weeks, suggested data issued by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics on Friday.

SPI monitors prices of 53 items based on the survey of 17 cities and 53 markets.

The impact of prices on various income groups also witnessed variations during the week under review.

For the lowest income group earning up to Rs8,000, the SPI increased by 0.36pc over the previous week, while inflation for the top income group (Rs35,000 and above) was up by 0.31pc.

However, as compared to the corresponding week of last year, the SPI for the combined group in the week under review witnessed an increase of 2.89pc.

The items which registered increase in their prices are gur 1.31pc; milk fresh 0.71pc; pulse moong 0.62pc; wheat 0.51pc; red chilli powder 0.50pc; tea 0.39pc; rice irri-6 0.38pc; curd 0.25pc; pulse mash 0.23pc; pulse masoor 0.22pc; eggs 0.09pc; vegetable ghee 0.02pc and firewood by 0.56pc.
