Bid to smuggle 6.8kg heroin foiled

RAWALPINDI: The Anti-Narcotics Force on Thursday foiled an attempt to smuggle 6.8 kilograms of heroin to Spain at Benazir Bhutto International Airport.

The ANF said the seizure was made when the check-in for an Emirates Airlines flight for Dubai was in progress.

The ANF staff detained a passenger while acting suspiciously. On search, 6.8 kg of heroin was discovered from a cavity of his suitcase. The accused had intended to fly to Spain from Dubai.

In another attempt, ANF staff intercepted a passenger at Benazir International Airport, suspecting that he had ingested a capsule filled with heroin.

During initial interrogation, the accused confessed to having more than one capsule filled with heroin in his stomach.

The accused has been taken to the hospital for recovery of the capsules. He intended to fly to Sharjah by an Air Blue flight.
