Improved contact to increase trade with Taiwan

KARACHI: Pakistan and Taiwan should open up trade offices in their respective countries for the promotion of bilateral trade which presently stands very low and does not reflect the real potential.

This was said by Taiwan External Trade Development Council (ITRA) president Peter W J Huang in a meeting with Pakistani businessmen held at the Federation House here on Wednesday. Mr Huang is leading a four member Taiwanese delegation to Pakistan.

He said that bilateral trade between the two countries is currently at around $700 million against Taiwan’s total external trade of around $559 billion per annum.

He hoped set up a trade office in Karachi for which he sought FPCCI’s assistance.
