PBSF to hold camp for India-bound cueists

KARACHI: The Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Federation (PBSF) will hold camp for Bangalore-bound cueists in two phases starting from Friday at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad snooker academy.

According to PBSF president, Alamgir Shaikh, the step has been taken for the convenience of players to provide them practice opportunity close to their hometown in the first leg which will continue till Nov 5.

He said the players will move to Karachi for the second leg of the camp which starts from Nov 7 and continue till Nov 16. The team leaves to the Indian city by Air Lanka flight the next day.

National champion Mohammad Asif Toba, Mohammad Sajjad and Hamza Akbar will represent the country in the annual spectacle which takes place from Nov 18 to 29. Toba and Sajjad were picked on the basis of their national rankings while Hamza has been given wildcard.

Sajjad, a former Asian No 2 and Hamza returned from Doha the other day after featuring in the inaugural Qatar Academy 6-Red Snooker Championship. The PBSF chief also arrived with the team.

Meanwhile, the PBSF has submitted passports of players, officials and referees to the Indian Embassy in Islamabad for issuance of visas on Wednesday.
