85 outlaws held in a month

LAHORE: The police’s Crimes Investigation Agency claim to have arrested 85 criminals in a month’s time, recovering booty worth millions from them.

Capital City Police Officer retired Capt Amin Wains told a news conference at Qila Gujjar Singh Police Lines that the CIA traced several cases of double and triple murder, kidnap for ransom, extortion, robbery with murder and injuries, dacoity, robbery and street crime.

He said the arrested suspects had confessed to have committed 226 incidents of crime and police seized cash, jewellery, laptops, computers, cameras, mobile phones, motorcycles and vehicles from them.

Robbers and thieves looted cash, jewellery and other valuables worth Rs4.28 million in different strikes on Tuesday.

Three robbers barged into the house of Abdul Sattar in N-Block Phase-I in Defence B police remit and took away cash and valuables worth Rs900,000. Two robbers targeted the house of Nadeem in Garden Town and made off with cash and valuables worth Rs500,000.

Thieves broke into the house of Majid in Nishat Colony and made off with cash and valuables worth Rs2m. Unidentified men sneaked into the house of Ali in Bahar Colony, Laiqatabad, and stole cash and valuables worth Rs396,000.

Two muggers approached Akhtar and his wife in Mughalpura and deprived them of cash and valuables worth Rs200,000 while two men robbed Mahmood and his family of cash and valuables worth Rs280,000 in Sanda.
