Brothers Danish, Aamir set semi-final date

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Danish Atlas Khan will face his brother Aamir Atlas Khan in the semi-final of the Chief of Air Staff International Squash Championship after both won their quarter-finals on Tuesday.

Danish, ranked 69th in the world, overcame compatriot Abbas Shaukat in a 52-minute duel 10-12, 9-11, 11-1, 11-6, 2-0 as his opponent quit the match in the final game.

Aamir, who has a world ranking of 85th, overcame world number 42 Nasir Iqbal 12-10, 4-11, 12-10, 11-5 in a match lasting 50 minutes to set a clash with his brother on Wednesday.

Wednesday’s other semi-final sees Egypt’s Omar Abdel Meguid facing Abdullah Al-Tamimi of Qatar.

Meguid recorded a swift 25-minute win over world number 129 Amaad Fareed, beating his Pakistani opponent in straight sets 11-3, 11-6, 11-4.

Al-Tamimi, meanwhile, was made to work by Pakistan’s world number 63 Farhan Zaman before he wrapped up the 81-minute contest 11-7, 7-11, 13-15, 11-8, 11-9.
