ISLAMABAD: The government has made some changes in the board of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP).

In a significant development, former State Bank governor Dr Ishrat Hussain and another key member of the board Shams Kassim Lakha have left the organisation which they were serving in the capacity of non-government members.

Four new members have been inducted into the board for three years.

They are Dr Sania Nishtar and Dr Zeba A. Sattar as non-government members and secretary or additional secretary of the ministry of foreign affairs and additional secretary of the cabinet division.

Talking to Dawn, BISP Chairman Enver Baig said Dr Hussain and Mr Lakha had left the board of their own accord.
