Blind cricketers need support at every level: Asif Azeem

KARACHI: Director Sports DMC South Asif Azeem has hailed the performance of the Pakistan blind cricket team at the international level and feels that more incentives and opportunities must be provided to them to showcase their talent.

Speaking at a seminar to mark the International Day of Blind held under the auspices of Pakistan Association of Blind (Sindh chapter), Asif said that the blind cricket team of Pakistan is the current world champion and if blind cricket is provided with the necessary infrastructure, the cricketers will continue to give impressive performances at the national and world level.

Asif appealed to the private sector to come forward and assist the blind cricket team and other blind people to contribute in daily life.

Vice Chairman Blind Cricket Council’s Imran Shaikh also spoke on the occasion and said his friends and colleagues have been active since the past 11 years to organise blind cricket tournaments and improve its standard.

He said in Karachi alone, there are 70 registered blind cricket players who have been participating in the events. He later thanked DMC South and Administrator Mohammad Raeesi for their support in organising the Blind International Day function.
