FPCCI asks uniform tax on rental income

KARACHI: The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) on Monday urged the government to adopt uniform tax rate on rental income.

FPCCI President Zakaria Usman pointed out that putting rental income under different tax slabs introduced in budget 2014-15 would encourage corruption and tax evasion.

He said the tax laws and procedures should be simple to avoid unnecessary record keeping and complex calculations, adding that due to abrupt increase in tax rate from 10 per cent to almost 24pc the rentals of warehouses have increased manifold, thus pushing the cost of doing business.
