ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said on Sunday that leaders of the political parties holding sit-ins in Islamabad wanted to create anarchy in the country instead of bringing about revolution.

Dance and concerts had never brought a revolution, he said, adding that containers of sit-in leaders were surrounded by bogus degree holders and deserters of other parties and therefore their character was questionable.

The sit-in leaders had tasted the flavours of several parties in the past, he said at a public gathering at Kalar Saidan Ground, according to a press release.

The minister said that Imran Khan while criticising the PML-N and PPP should also highlight the actual character of people around him. “People should differentiate between the truth and the falsehood,” he said.

In an apparent critical assessment of the government’s performance, he said: “We should have done more for people during our current tenure.”

Chaudhry Nisar said the country was facing serious challenges; it was currently like a house with no roof, windows, doors, electricity and water, and its reconstruction would take time.

He said that people who had no experience of running even a small ministry were adamant that they possessed ability to run the country.

Chaudhry Nisar said people should not get disappointed, adding that he had been part of the PML-N for the past 30 years and would always remain in it.

He criticised the electricity tariff increase and stressed on collective efforts to improve the system.

Engineer Qamarul Islam Raja, Advocate Sardar Mohammad Ishaq Khan, Chaudhry Abdul Ghaffar, Sheikh Mohammad Akram and Haji Malik Mohammad Arzam were present on the occasion.
