Another rider falls

KARACHI: It was yet another day and another story at the Karachi Racecourse when a rider became unconscious after falling from his mount Chalbaaz in the third race of the meeting on Sunday.

Identified as M. Rashid, the 25-year-old riding boy who started well and was in the bunch of horses abruptly fell between three-and-a-half and four furlongs from three-year-old bay colt Chalbaaz, owned by Syed Sibghatullah Shah Pir Pagara.

The rider was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital in an ambulance where according to KRC sources, his condition was stable and he had gained consciousness.

It is pertinent to mention that rider Pervez Ali survived injuries after falling from his mount during the morning track work recently. “I have not resumed riding due to consistent pain in my thigh and back,” he told Dawn.

Another prominent rider Farjad Habib, it is learnt, has quit riding following fear after three riders have succumbed to injuries they received while falling from horses during competitive racing in the last three years.
