Pakistan set 97-run target for Australia in T20 clash

DUBAI: Pakistan set Australia a 97-run victory target in the one and only Twenty20 clash against Australia being played in Dubai on Sunday.

Debutant Saad Nasim was the top scorer for the greenshirts with 25 runs off 32 balls while Wahab Riaz was second highest scorer with 26 runs off 20 deliveries.

Australian off-break bowler Glenn Maxwell grabbed three wickets giving 13 runs off 3 overs while leg spinner Cameron Boyce took two wickets in his four overs. Boyce gave away only 10 runs in his overs.

Opener Ahmed Shehzad and spinner Hasan Raza scored 10 and 13 runs respectively and were the only other Pakistani batsman to reach a double figure score. 20 runs were scored as extras during the innings.

Earlier, captain Shahid Afridi won the toss and elected to bat in the one-off Twenty20 international.

Pakistan are without their key spinners Saeed Ajmal (suspended because of his bowling action) and Mohammad Hafeez who was ruled out of the limited over series with a hand injury.

Both teams are missing key men and are looking to build up their squads in the shortest format of the game.
