Call-attention notice on infants’ deaths

LAHORE: Concerned at the death of 54 children in a state-run hospital allegedly due to spurious drugs, the Jamaat-i-Islami submitted a call-attention notice to the Punjab Assembly Secretariat.

The notice was submitted by MPA Dr Waseem Akhtar against the deaths in Bahawalnagar DHQ Hospital during the last 15 days.

Under the assembly rules of procedure, the chief minister replies to call-attention notices on the floor of the house. However, he is allowed to assign the duty to a colleague.

The government has been asked to explain the spurious drugs, their supplier and the action taken against the accused.
