Traders demand timely completion of metro bus project

RAWALPINDI: The business community on Wednesday asked Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) to resolve the issue of traders on Murree Road who have been suffering financial losses due to the slow pace of work on Metro Bus Project on Murree Road.

The demand was made during the meeting of the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry led by its new president Syed Asad Mashadi and Commissioner Zahid Saeed. The meeting was attended by office bearers of the chamber and senior government officials.

RCCI President Syed Asad Mashadi has said the business community and customers are facing serious problems due to the slow pace of construction. He said that business activity on Murree Road has almost halted and the business community has suffered huge losses. Further delays will cause more economic damage.

He demanded that the government ensure that construction work is completed in time and the Metro bus is running within one year.

Speaking to the RCCI delegation, Commissioner Zahid Saeed said that government was committed to complete the project within the given deadline.

He said that recent political crisis has affected the speed of construction of said project but provincial government has made it clear that no excuse will be accepted in this regard.

He also appreciated the cooperation of the RCCI in the construction of the Metro Bus project.
