Compensation announced for blast victims

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on Tuesday announced compensation for the victims of the Sher Shah Suri Road blast under the Shuhada Package.

The heirs of the victims, including a woman, will be paid Rs500,000 while the seriously injured Rs200,000 each. Similarly, the killed and injured FC jawans would be given compensation at the department level.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, Governor Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan, Minister for Information Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani, and ANP’s central general secretary Mian Iftikhar Hussain condemned the attack targeting the convoy of the security forces and described the losses of human lives as a big tragedy.

Mr Khattak enquired after the wounded people at the Lady Reading Hospital and said that his government would trace the culprits and bring them to book. He said that the provincial government would make security arrangements more effective to maintain law and order in the province.

Minister for Information Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani said that the terrorist attack was an attempt to disturb the peace of the provincial capital. He said that the government would deal with miscreants with iron hands. He said that the terrorist attack could possibly be the reaction to the ongoing military operation in North Waziristan Agency.

The minister directed the LRH administration for provision of best medical facilities to the injured persons.

The governor Mr Mehtab appreciated the law enforcers for rendering matchless sacrifices against the terrorists to ensure security of citizens.

Mian Iftikhar also visited LRH to enquire the wounded people. He accused the provincial government of failing to protect life and property of people, and asked it to devise an effective policy to deal with extortionists and target killers.
