KU classes resume today

KARACHI: Teaching at Karachi University is set to resume on Wednesday (today) although teachers will continue their protest till the arrest of the culprits involved in the killing of Prof Shakeel Auj.

This was decided in a well-attended general body meeting of the Karachi University Teachers Society (Kuts) held in the Arts Auditorium on Tuesday.

“The teachers were unanimous that the governor must ensure that the promises made by him in a recent meeting with teachers’ representatives are met in letter and spirit,” said Kuts secretary Moiz Khan.

Teachers across the city would hold a grand demonstration on Oct 1, the venue of which would be decided after consultation, he added.

The Sindh governor had met a KU teachers’ delegation a day earlier and assured it that the government would arrest Prof Auj’s killers as soon as possible and would give reasonable compensation and a residential plot to the victim’s family.
