International Pakhtun culture day

PESHAWAR: Pak-Afghan People’s Forum (PAPF) will hold International Afghan Pakhtun culture day at Nishtar Hall here on October 18-19 to highlight soft image of Pakhtuns around the world.

Speaking at a news conference at the press club on Monday, PAPF chairman Alamzeb Khan said the event was aimed at preserving culture of Pakhtun nation. He said it was very unfortunate that bad words like terrorists and extremists were used for Pakhtuns.He said that PAPF would make efforts to prove that Pakhtuns had nothing to do with extremism and terrorism and that some elements were trying to defame them for their vested interests.

Alamzeb said that the decision to organise the event was decided at a meeting of PAPF, adding that the day would be held every year worldwide on September 23.

He said that the event would be a colourful show and people from different walks of life, including poets and intellectuals, would deliver lectures on culture and civilisation of Pakhtun nation.
