JIT to investigate three cases against Qadri, Imran

ISLAMABAD: A Joint Investigation Team (JIT) was constituted to investigate three cases registered against Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek’s (PAT) leadership and activists under Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) and other sections of Pakistan Penal Code, sources told Dawn.

Inspector General of Police Tahir Alam Khan sent a request to chief commissioner Islamabad for constitution of the team and recommended the names of Superintendent of Police retired Capt Mohammad Ilyas as head while SP Mustansar Feroz, Sub-Divisional Police Officer and Station House Officer Secretariat as police representatives.

He also requested the commissioner to appoint representatives of Intelligence Bureau and Inter Services Intelligence in the team, the sources said.

In response, the office of the chief commissioner issued a notification, constituting the JIT, which will investigate cases 182, 183 and 185.

Case 182 was registered against Imran Khan and Dr Tahirul Qadri along with 15 other leaders of PTI and PAT and 22,000 activists.
