Police foil kidnapping bid, arrest four

CHARSADDA: The police on Sunday foiled a kidnapping attempt and arrested a constable and three others.

SHO Charsadda city police station Cadet Ejaz Khan told journalists that four accused, one of them a head constable in the central police office, Peshawar, kidnapped a man, Zafeer Gul, from Rajjar Chowk and attempted to take him to Nowshera in a car.

After the police control room radioed a message about the incident, a police team spotted the car and after a brief chase overtook the kidnappers near Tarlandi Chowk and recovered the kidnapped man from the car, said Ejaz Khan.

The official said that the police arrested the kidnappers and seized two cars, three pistols and a pair of handcuffs from their possession.

The arrested men were identified as Gul Maash, his two sons Akhtar Hussain and Aftab Hussain, and Ahmad Shah, all residents of Peshawar.The police registered case against them and began investigation.

Meanwhile, a girl was shot dead allegedly by her father and brothers when they opened fire on a car in Ameerabad locality on Sunday. A man traveling with the girl was also injured.

The injured man, Hazrat Wali, told police that they got hold of the girl while trying to commit suicide and were taking her back to her house when her father, Ghulam Sarwar and his sons, Imran, Adil and Ayub, opened fire on the car.
