QUETTA: Balochistan Minister for Services and General Administration Mohammad Khan Shahwani has said that provincial government’s commitment about protection of minorities’ rights will be fulfilled.

Addressing a seminar titled `Ethics and Teachers for the Non-Muslim Community’ here on Thursday, he said it was a firm belief of the government that it should serve people without any discrimination. The seminar was organised by South Asian Partnership Pakistan (SAP-PK).

The minister said a bill would be moved in the provincial assembly for inclusion of ethics as a compulsory subject in the syllabi of schools and colleges for minorities.

Director General of Social Welfare Department Kahoor Khan Baloch, educationists, representatives of minorities and members of civil society attended the seminar.

Mr Shahwani said that concerns of members of minority communities about their rights were justifiable.

He said the issue of minority rights and inclusion of ethics as a compulsory subject for minorities would be taken up with coalition partners.

Programme officer of South Asia Partnership Pakistan Maqbool Ahmed Baloch said the SAP-PK was working on the proposed bill with consultation of lawyers and other stakeholders.
