NAB to set up two more offices

ISLAMABAD: As part of its expansion programme, the National Accountability Bureau will set up two more regional offices. The move will increase the number of NAB offices to seven.

The decision was taken at a conference of NAB’s director generals on Thursday. NAB’s new regional offices will be set up in Sukkur and Multan.

The meeting discussed last year’s performance, shortcomings, measures taken for improvement and the future plan of action.

“The decision to set up two more regional offices is part of NAB’s expansion plan for eradication of corruption and better monitoring of its activities across the country,” NAB spokesman Mohammad Irfan told Dawn.

He said the conference had also decided to set up an Anti-Corruption Training Academy on the pattern of the National Anti-Corruption Academy of Malaysia to enhance knowledge and working of the bureau’s officers.

The spokesman quoted NAB chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry as saying at the conference: “Training is a continuous and systematic process for any organisation seeking to create and maintain an efficient workforce capable of delivering the assigned tasks.”

The conference expressed satisfaction at the work done by the Training and Evaluation Wing (T&E) of NAB’s Forensic Laboratory and asked the T&E Wing to complete the remaining work as soon as possible.
