Faith-healer shot dead

KARACHI: A faith-healer was shot dead in Gulshan-i-Maymar on Tuesday evening, police said.

They added that Imran Kamal, 55, was sitting at his ‘astana’ in Jinjal Goth when assailants came there, fired at him and fled.

The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

Superhighway SHO Rana Haseeb said that it appeared that the faith-healer was targeted by militants in the area. However, investigators were probing the exact motive for the killing.

Suspect killed in encounter

A suspected robber was shot dead in a police encounter in Gulshan-i-Maymar on Tuesday evening.

SSP-West Irfan Baloch said that a gang of robbers allegedly tried to snatch a trailer on Northern Bypass. A police patrol reached the scene and in an ensuing encounter one of the suspects was shot dead while others managed to escape.
