International handball event in Faisalabad rescheduled

LAHORE: The International Handball Federation (IHF) Challenge Trophy South and Central Asia, which was earlier postponed on India’s request, will now be held at the Agriculture University, Faisalabad from Dec 3 to 7. It was originally scheduled for Oct 17-22.

Prof Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan who is the Vice Chancellor of University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, has been nominated as chairman of the organising committee.

Besides Pakistan, teams from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Yemen will compete in the event. Men aged under 21 years and women under 20 will be allowed to participate in the event.

This is the third challenge trophy in which India will defend their title in both men and women categories. Pakistan got silver medals in the last two IHF challenge trophies in the mens category.

During the event, coaches and referees courses will be conducted by the International Handball Federation (IHF). First time in the history, Pakistan Handball Federation is organising such a big international event.
