PTI urged to shun politics of sit-ins

MINGORA: Awami National Party, Swat, on Sunday demanded of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf to shun the politics of sit-ins and take practical steps for resolving problems being faced by the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

A meeting of ANP, Swat chapter, was held here at a local hotel, which was presided over by district president Sher Shah and attended by general secretary Rahmat Ali, vice-president Khurshid Khan and other office-bearers.

Talking to mediapersons, Mr Shah said that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were worried about the current political situation where there was no one to solve the increasing problems of people.

He said that after restoration of peace in Swat the previous ANP-led government had started development projects for economic revival of the militancy-hit district.

He claimed that the PTI-led provincial government had now abandoned the development projects started by them for the residents of Swat.

He said that the prolonged absence of the chief minister and other ministers from the province had seriously affected the government's business since the sit-in started a month ago.

He demanded of the PTI leadership to allow the cabinet members to come back to Peshawar from Islamabad and solve people’s issues by providing them good governance.

Answering a question, he said that they would soon start a door-to-door campaign in Swat to inform people about the poor performance of the provincial government.

SIRAJ IN SWAT: Jamaat-i-Islami chief Sirajul Haq on Sunday visited Mingora city, where he inquired after senior JI leader and former MNA Khaliq Dad Khan.

JI district chief Dr Fazal Subhan and other activists were also present on the occasion. According to a press release, the JI chief said that his party was trying to resolve the current political crisis in the country. He said that they could pull the nation out of the current crisis by showing patience and tolerance.
