TOBA TEK SINGH: Taking notice of non-provision of food items to the flood-hit people of Pirmahal tehsil, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Sunday made Toba DCO Dr Farah Masood OSD and suspended from service Pirmahal Assistant Commissioner Khalid Mahmood Gujjar.

The temporary charge of the office of DCO was given to Additional District Collector Malik Khadim Jilani.

Mr Gujjar has been directed to report to S&GAD while Hafiz Najeeb Ahmad has been posted as new AC.

Report said flood-tossed people of Chak 772 GB located near Head Sidhnai had staged a protest demonstration against Mr Gujjar who allegedly forced them to come to the relief camp to get food.

Meanwhile, a press release issued by the district government on Sunday said 54 villages had been hit by the Ravi waters in Kamalia and Pirmahal tehsils. It said 18 houses had been ravaged by floodwater while food and other relief goods were being provided to the people through eight relief centres.
