ANP leader dies during Kabul visit

QUETTA: Malik Aman­­ullah Kasi, a central leader of the Awami National Party, died of cardiac arrest in Kabul on Thursday. He will be buried near Quetta on Friday.

Mr Kasi was an associate of the late Khan Abdul Wali Khan, Khan Abdul Samad Khan Achakzai and Afzal Khan Lala.

He was jailed for several years in cases relating to the struggle for democracy, constitutional rule, rights of Pakhtun people and the Hyderabad conspiracy case.

He went to Kabul a few days ago to attend a seminar. He fell ill there and passed away after suffering cardiac arrest.

The ANP, ANP-Wali and Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party in separate statements offered condolences and expressed grief over Mr Kasi’s death.

According to family sources, he will be buried on Friday evening in his ancestral graveyard of Killi Chasma Achozai in the suburb of the city.
