Atif, Wahab shine for Lahore
LAHORE, Aug 29: An undefeated half-century by AtifIjaz and fine bowling by medium-pacer Wahab Riaz helped Lahore beat Rawalpindi by 17 runs in the Inter-regional Under-19 One-day cricket tournament at the LCCA Ground on Friday.
Middle-order batsman Atif scored sensible 88-ball 51 with two boundaries as Lahore could earn a paltry total of 167 for eight before the allotted 40 overs were completed.
But the target was revised and set at 170 as play was interrupted due to rain.
Salman Akbar (34, one four) was the only other notable scorer for Lahore.
The visitors, despite a fine knock of Umar Khattak who scored 58, were restricted to 153 for eight in 40 overs mainly due to Wahab who finished with two for 26 off seven overs.
Another pacer Sakhawat Salamat also bowled, economically as he conceded 19 runs in seven overs for one wicket.
Umar slammed two fours while he faced 105 balls.
