Use of air conditioners banned in govt offices

TIMERGARA: Lower Dir deputy commissioner Sohail Khan on Wednesday imposed ban on use of air conditioners in government offices in the district.

Chairing a meeting of the district heads of government departments at the DC Jirga Hall, Balambat, the deputy commissioner asked the participants to ensure ban on the use of air conditioners in order to save energy.

Under the ‘save energy programme’ of the government, he said that unnecessary lights should also be kept off in bazaars and shopping centres. He directed all the assistant commissioners to regularly check streetlights and electronic advertisement boards in bazaars and roadsides. It was decided during the meeting that prayer leaders would be taken into confidence to deliver special sermons on saving energy by domestic consumers.

The head teachers of schools were also asked to educate their students during the morning assembly on the government’s save energy policy.


Step taken to save energy, says Lower Dir DC


IJT ELECTION: Salman Khan was elected nazim and Mubarak Zeb general secretary of Islami Jamiat Tulba (IJT) of the Postgraduate College, Timergara.

In this regard, Timergara zone nazim Sultan Zeb chaired a gathering of students at the college where the IJT members took part in the election. Other office-bearers included Zakirullah finance secretary, Mohammad Tayyab information secretary, Attaul Haq library in-charge and Habibullah in-charge of Quran Society.

CRICKET STAR: Bashirullah Rughani, who was recently selected for the Pakistan Under-19 cricket team from Upper Dir, has said that he would not disappoint the nation during his career as a national cricketer.

Talking to mediapersons at the Timergara Press Club here on Wednesday, he said that his selection was made on merit. He said that the youth of the area lacked facilities and opportunities to show their talent on national level.
