47 per cent pass BA exams

BAHAWALPUR: The Islamia University Bahawalpur (IUB) on Monday announced the results of Bachelor of Arts first annual examination, 2014 and Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) exam, 2014 with pass percentage of 47.23 and 44.97, respectively.

According to university announcement, in B.A. examination out of total 11,312 candidates, 5,343 were declared successful.

In BA, two top positions were secured by boys while the third went to a girl.

Muhammad Shahid of the Best College of Computer Science and Humanities, Bahawalpur, clinched the first position by securing 681 marks out of 800. Ahmed Razaq, a private candidate of Liaquatpur, and Ms.Iqra Bashir of Aligarh College of Computer Sciences, Rahim Yar Khan, stood second and third by securing 670 and 665 marks, respectively.


Boys bag two top positions


In B.Com, Muhammad Aqib and Ms Okasha Fatima of Allama Iqbal College, city campus, Bahawalpur, obtained first and third positions by securing 1,200 and 1,147 marks, respectively while Muhammad Kashif of Allama Iqbal College, Satellite Town, stood second by getting 1,156 marks.

GOLDSMITH ROBBED: Three motorcyclists allegedly looted jewellery worth lakhs of rupees from goldsmith Abdul Aziz here on Sunday night in Mailaiwali Gali.

According to police, Abdul Aziz was about to close his shop in the Mailaiwali Gali on Baghdad Road when three motorcyclists overpowered him, resorted to aerial firing and took away a bag containing jewellery.

Baghdadul Jadid police have registered a case.
