Twenty20 clash rained out

BASSETERRE (St Kitts): The one-off Twenty20 International between the West Indies and Bangladesh was abandoned with no result on Wednesday after a lengthy, heavy shower rendered conditions unfit for play at Warner Park.

Bangladesh, after winning the toss, reached 31-0 off 4.4 overs when rain and strong winds caused ground staff problems as covers were blown around for minutes before they could be placed on the pitch.

Rain abated after an hour, but the pitch was left in a poor condition and umpires Joel Wilson and Peter Nero called off the match after a final inspection at 10:35pm local time.

The teams next meet in a two-Test series beginning from Sept 5 at Kingstown in St Vincent. The final Test is scheduled to start at Gros Islet in St Lucia from Sept 13.

The West Indies won the preceding one-day series 3-0.
