Education dept withdraws transfer of 287 teachers

RAWALPINDI: After withdrawing the transfer orders of 287 schoolteachers, Rawalpindi Education Department re-adjusted them on the available seats on Tuesday.

A senior officer of the education department said over 700 teachers had filed applications against their recent transfers, claiming that they were facing difficulties reaching their newly assigned schools due to various reasons.

“After reviewing all the applications, we found 287 cases that were fit for re-adjustment. These teachers, particularly women, were facing problems in reaching the schools,” the officer said and added that all those teachers who were transferred under relocation policy have been directed to perform their duties with full dedication; otherwise a strict disciplinary action will be taken against them.

It is relevant to note here that teachers’ community has been complaining against the transfers, which were recently made under the relocation policy.

They also challenged the policy in Rawalpindi Bench of Lahore High Court.

However, the court decided the matter in favour of the education department.
