Woman killed in drive-by shooting

LAHORE: A woman was killed in a drive-by shooting in Sabzazar on Tuesday.

Bushra, 35, a mother of three, was out of her home to drop her children at a tuition centre near Rasheed Park when two unidentified motorcyclists shot at her five bullets and fled.

She was shifted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

Victim’s brother Imran said they had no enmity with anyone.

Police shifted the body to morgue for autopsy and registered a case.

In another incident, Abdul Aziz, 60, died after taking poisonous substance in Liaqatabad.

Police said Aziz, of neighbourhood Salamtpura, allegedly committed suicide over some family matters. Police said he was shifted to Jinnah Hospital where he could not survive.

Police handed over the body to family after legal formalities.

SHOT DEAD: A labourer was allegedly shot dead in the name of honour in Kot Lakhpat area on Tuesday.

Police said 38-year-old Asad Abbas of Khushab had contracted court marriage with the sister of Naveed Husain some time ago and later moved to Lahore.

They said Naveed nurtured a grudge against Abbas.

Quoting an eyewitness, police said Naveed approached Abbas at his workplace at Babar Chowk and shot him dead.

Police shifted the body for autopsy and registered a case against the suspect.

Station House Officer Imran Qamar told Dawn that police had arrested Naveed and retrieved the pistol.
