‘Deja vu’

APROPOS your editorial ‘Deja vu’ (Aug 21). Hoping you will tolerate alternative narratives not entirely in agreement with yours.

Previous military interventions have been universally condemned — not when they occurred but when they overstayed their welcome.

To accuse, however subtly, that the present dispensation is like their predecessors is neither objective nor fair.

To write “perhaps even steered events from behind the scenes... “ is the kind of speculation which you have shunned in the past. I have a question. If 51pc of the electoral roll of Pakistan vote that the army should wrest control of the country, would that be democratic?
