PCB forms bodies to strengthen domestic cricket

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has formed four different committees, aiming to strengthen overall domestic structure of Pakistan cricket.

Ground, illegal bowling action and umpires’ evaluation committees have been constituted besides appointment of match observers.

Twenty more officials have been inducted into the said committees whose tasks are usually performed by field umpires and match referees. The above officials have been co-opted into the committees in addition to a long list of ten selectors with six members being inducted into senior while four into junior team.

Most members of the newly-formed committees have no time to perform their duties keenly by paying regular visits to the match venues, since they have their other assignments. Therefore, it seems they all will watch match recordings to take decisions.

Also, no chairmen have so far been named for these committees.

Ground Committee: Director Domestic Cricket Operations, Domestic Cricket Operations (GM), Chief Curator and Ejaz Faruqi (member BoG).

Illegal Bowling Action Committee: Iqbal Qasim (member BoG), Mohammad Akram, bowling coach (NCA), Mushtaq Ahmad, spin bowling coach, Aleem Dar( ICC elite panel umpire) and Dr Sohail Saleem, (Sr. GM Sports Medicine).

In case of non-availability of Aleem Dar, Ahsan Raza will be part of this committee.

Umpires Evaluation Committee: Iqbal Qasim (member BoG), Shakil Shaikh (member BoG), Haroon Rashid (DGD), Saleem Badar, (ICC umpires coach) and Saqib Irfan,(manager UR and DCO).

Match observers: Azhar Khan for Lahore, Saleem Jaffer for Karachi and Hyderabad, Ijaz Ahmad (Sahiwal) for Multan and Bahawalpur, Naveed Latif for Faisalabad, Sargodha and Sialkot, retired Col Naushad Ali for Islamabad and Rawalpindi and Sarfraz Akhtar/Sajid Shah for Peshawar and Abbottabad.
