Cattle markets allowed at designated places

KARACHI: The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation has imposed an immediate ban on the setting up of cattle markets and ‘bakrapiris’ anywhere in the city except at the designated places.

In a statement on Friday, KMC administrator Rauf Farooqui said no makeshift cattle market could be set up at other locations than the designated ones and if any person or group was found involved in setting up such markets they would have to face action under the anti-encroachments law.

He said setting up of such makeshift markets in the inner city areas led to hurdles in the smooth flow of traffic, troubled pedestrians and created unhygienic conditions.
