Two killed in attack on Nato tankers

LANDI KOTAL: Two drivers were killed when militants said to be affiliated with the Jaish-e-Khurasan (JeK) group attacked their oil tankers in Jamrud on Thursday. Two cleaners were injured in the incident, Khasadar officials said.

They said that assailants on motorcycles intercepted the two vehicles at Sur Kamar area and opened fire, killing drivers Juma Khan of Lakki Marwat and Mohammad Ayaz of Swat and injuring cleaners Zabit Khan of Jamrud and Moin Khan of Landi Kotal.

The attackers torched the vehicles that were taking oil for Nato forces in Afghanistan.

The Khasadar force personnel manning a nearby checkpost chased the attackers and fired shots at them but they escaped. Later, a JeK spokesman told reporters on mobile phones that its `fighters’ had carried out the attack. The incident was the second of its kind in the area in as many days. Armed men on bikes killed two drivers on Tuesday in an attack on two Nato containers in Sur Kamar.
