Joint search op amid ‘threats’ of attacks on airbases

TOBA TEK SINGH: Hundreds of policemen, including policewomen, from Arrouti, Chuttiana and Pirmahal district police stations conducted a joint search operation on Tuesday in villages around Shorkot Rafiqui Airbase in the backdrop of threats of terrorist attacks on airbases across the country.

The operation was supervised by District Police Officer Dr Shahzad Asif, and an official said no suspect was found in any of the villages in the airbase’s funnel area.

The official said that during the operation SHOs also held meetings with lumberdars and other prominent villagers and asked them to keep an eye on all entrants and guests to their villages so no terrorist could enter the airbase area.

Man accused of taking pictures of nurses

The city police registered a case under Section 294 of the PPC against a man for allegedly taking pictures of nurses in the DHQ Hospital and using objectionable language against them.

Medical Superintendent Dr Ghulam Hussain Sial told police Nazir Bholla was caught red-handed while taking photographs of nurses with his mobile phone in a ward of the hospital. Police were raiding to arrest the suspect who had fled from the scene.
