Pakistan making arrangements to evacuate citizens from turmoil hit Libya

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's embassy in Tunisia is making arrangements for Pakistanis trapped in Libya to evacuate the turmoil-hit country through the Tunisian border, the foreign office said Monday.

"The Pakistani Embassy has already registered a large number of Pakistanis and referred their documents to Tunisian authorities for visa on arrival," the statement read.

Since no Libyan airport is functioning due to the ongoing strife, the Pakistani embassy in Tunis has been assigned to facilitate visa on arrival at the Tunisian border from where the Pakistani nationals will be able to fly home.

The Pakistani Embassy in Tripoli has indications that the number of Pakistanis who may have to be evacuated is between 3,000 to 6,000, said the foreign office statement.

The foreign office and the Pakistani embassy in Tripoli have directed Pakistani nationals to contact embassy personnel for further assistance.
